NUS Scholar Enrichment Grant/Scholarships - Singapore




The NUS Scholar Enrichment Grant aims to help enrich the NUS Scholars’ undergraduate experiences and expose scholars to a wider variety of programmes in order to stretch their creative and critical faculties, hone their intellectual and leadership qualities and cultivate a global outlook.

The Grant will sponsor scholars to participate in local and/or overseas enrichment programmes and activities such as conferences, courses, seminars and workshops that do not form compulsory part(s) of each scholar’s academic programme.

The Grant will co-fund 50% of the total cost of participation in the programme up to a maximum amount of S$3,000 for the following eligible items:

  • Official fees for registration and/or participation in the programme

  • Economy class airfare to the city

  • Overseas accommodation (suitable for students and based on prevailing NUS guidelines)



NUS Scholar Enrichment Grant Application Requirements


One soft copy of the Enrichment Grant Application form (with a scanned signature inserted within) should be submitted to the NUS Office of Admissions at oambox27@nus.edu.sg with:

  • Information on the programme to assess its merit, relevance, prestige, and its organiser and participants (e.g. a copy of the programme write-up, brochure and and/or official handout)

  • Photocopies of the application to the programme and/or the letter of invitation/acceptance from the programme organiser (if available).

  • Detailed programme agenda for each day of participation in the programme

Grant Cap

Each scholar can only apply for and receive the Grant 2 times (for 2 programmes) throughout his/her undergraduate course of study.







  • The scholarship application period will run from 1 February to 1 April every year. Students who have sat for their final examinations prior to the application period should proceed to apply for the scholarships even if you do not have your actual results. This will enable us to identify interested applicants and proceed to process your application as soon as the ‘A’ level and final year Polytechnic results are released. However, please note that applications for the scholarship should be done after application for admission into NUS.



  • All Singapore Citizen students can apply to be considered for the Global Merit Scholarship, NUS Undergraduate (Merit) Scholarship, NUS Undergraduate Scholarship, Kent Ridge Undergraduate (Merit) Scholarship and Kent Ridge Undergraduate Scholarship by using the common online scholarship application form.

  • Selection interviews will be conducted from April onwards. Shortlisted candidates will receive an email notification if they have been selected to attend the interviews.



  • All shortlisted candidates will be informed of the results of their interviews by end July.



  • Scholarships are awarded on the basis of competition among eligible candidates. Recipients will be selected from among the best in each cohort. Leadership, co-curricular records and other capabilities will be assessed during the interview.




  • NUS reserves the right not to award any scholarship if there are no candidates of sufficient merit. The decision of the selection committee is final. Enquiries or disputes surrounding its decisions will not be entertained.



  • We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.





Temasek Polytechnic Scholarship- Singapore

The prestigious bond-free Temasek Polytechnic (TP) Scholarship is awarded annually to newly enrolled Year 1 full-time students. This scholarship is open to all diploma courses, with the exclusion of the Diploma in Consumer Science & Technology course. The scholars will undergo a structured Student Leadership Programme (SLP) with opportunities to participate in overseas projects as well as leadership and talent development programmes.

General Information of the Scholarship


Eligibility Criteria



  • Excellent GCE ‘O’ Level results or its equivalent (preferably GCE 'O' levels with a net aggregate score of 10 and below)

  • Excellent CCA records (preferably at least a grade A2)

  • Good character and conduct

  • Strong leadership qualities with potential

  • Not in receipt of any other scholarship or bursary

  • Not in receipt of Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS) from Yayasan Mendaki

  • Not financially sponsored by employers


 

Tenure of Scholarship



  • Up to 3 years of study

  • Monetary value of S$7,500 for the recipient’s 3 years of study or S$2,500 per academic year

  • Renewal of scholarship is subject to excellent academic performance, active participation in CCA and SLP, with good conduct, and demonstrated strong leadership qualities

  • Application is open to Year 1 full-time students only

  • Application for the scholarship opens from 17 Dec 2012 to 29 Apr 2013

  • Applications are to be submitted online via the TPeScholarship Application (TPeSA) Portal


Applicants who met the eligibility criteria are advised to attend the Scholarship interview in TP during the Joint Admissions Exercise in January 2013.

Selection Process


Shortlisted applicants may be requested to attend interview sessions with the Selection Panel.

PhD Studentship in Historical Studies Leicester Univ, UK

The School of Historical Studies is pleased to offer this fully-funded studentship for October 2013 entry to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme. The studentship will pay UK/EU tuition fees for three years (October 2013 - September 2016) and includes each year a stipend worth £13,590 and Research Training Support Grant of £200.

MBA scholarship in Ireland

UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School is delighted to partner with The Irish Times to offer one exceptional candidate the chance to win a scholarship to cover full tuition fees for a part-time Executive MBA at UCD Smurfit School, worth €29,500.

Competition Instructions



  1. Applicants must complete the online application below.

  2. Applicants must have a university degree or equivalent professional qualification and a minimum of three years professional experience.

  3. As part of the online application you must answer three GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) questions correctly.

  4. As part of the online application you must complete a short essay entitled – “Tell us in 500 words why you deserve to win the Irish Times MBA Scholarship 2013”

  5. You must upload an up-to-date copy of your CV

  6. Successful entrants of the first stage will be invited to complete an MBA application if they have not already done so.

  7. A panel of judges will then select a second-round short list, based on applications. These candidates will be interviewed.

  8. The Irish Times scholarship will be awarded to the highest calibre candidate selected from the applications received, subject to their meeting, at a minimum, the standard entry requirements of the UCD Smurfit School Executive MBA programme.

  9. Admission to the programme will be conditional on satisfying the GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) requirements of the Executive MBA programme at UCD Smurfit School. Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships

Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships provide opportunities to people from some developing countries to study at selected education institutions outside Australia.

The purpose of the scholarships is for people to gain knowledge and skills which will help the development of their home country.

Am I eligible for a scholarship and how do I apply?


Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships are currently restricted to Pacific countries.

Enquiries about scholarships should be made with the Australian Diplomatic Mission. For example, scholarship information for citizens of the Solomon Islands is only available from the Australian Diplomatic Mission in Honiara.

Diplomatic Missions in other countries or AusAID Offices in Australia cannot provide country specific information about the availability of scholarships.

How are people selected for scholarships?


Applicants compete on their merit which includes academic achievement and other selection criteria. The selection criteria vary between countries and are developed jointly by the Australian and partner governments.

AusAID has a gender/equity policy (half of the scholarships are awarded to women and half to men).

To be eligible for a scholarship applicants must:

  • be a citizen of and a resident in the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships participating country

  • not have or be entitled to permanent residence in Australia; and not be married or engaged to be married to a person who holds or is eligible to hold Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residence status (unless their country does not issue passports—the Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau)

  • meet specific eligibility criteria imposed by the Government of the applicant's country of citizenship

  • satisfy the host government's immigration requirements for regional students

  • not hold another scholarship during the period of the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarship

  • not be transferring from another scholarship

  • not hold or have held an Australian Government scholarship in the two years preceding the proposed time of commencement of the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarship.


Where can I study?


Currently Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships are offered to people from the Pacific to study at Pacific tertiary institutions in Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Samoa and New Caledonia.

Citizens of Papua New Guinea are currently not eligible to undertake Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships at universities outside Papua New Guinea. 

What can I study?


Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships students study a wide range of disciplines at selected education institutions in the Pacific region.

The scholarship numbers and fields of study for each country are determined annually as part of Australia's bilateral development assistance program with that country.

Some countries may limit the level of study (technical, undergraduate or postgraduate) and give priority to certain fields of study to better meet development needs.

Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships are offered to Papua New Guinea citizens under the Papua New Guinea Health Awards for courses in Midwifery, Nursing and Community Health Work. To be eligible, applicants must first satisfy the eligibility and acceptance requirements of a participating Papua New Guinean health college or university. More country specific information is available from the Australian Diplomatic Mission in the country of citizenship.

What is the length of scholarships?


The scholarships are offered for the minimum period that the individual could be expected to complete the academic program. Scholarships may include preparatory programs (including English language tuition) which are normally limited to one year.

Applicants considering studying for particular professions (eg medicine, legal studies, etc) should note that they are expected to complete their practical training in their own country. Only under exceptional circumstances do scholarships include a practical training period required for professional registration.

What are the scholarship conditions?


Applicants who are offered a scholarship will be asked to sign an undertaking declaring that they will comply with the conditions of that scholarship. Partner countries may impose their own conditions on the scholarship.

Conditions include:

  1. studying full time and meeting all course requirements

  2. not changing enrolment without the prior written approval of AusAID

  3. making satisfactory academic progress

  4. complying with restrictions on employment in the country of study

  5. accepting that the scholarship may be withdrawn by the Australian Government

  6. returning to the home country on completion of the scholarship

  7. restrictions on returning to the country of study or travelling to Australia within 2 years of the completion of the scholarship

  8. repaying the total amount of the scholarship if condition (6) or (7) are not adhered to.


Do I get financial assistance while studying?


Scholarship entitlements vary between countries and institution of enrolment.

Generally entitlements cover a return airfare from your home country to the country of study, academic and other compulsory fees, an establishment allowance and a living allowance paid fortnightly.
