Scholarships for Studying in Indonesia : DARMASISWA RI PROGRAM

DARMASISWA is a scholarship program extended by the government of the Republic of Indonesia to foreign students from countries with which Indonesia has friendly relations. The program offered are Indonesian language, arts, music and crafts. Participants can choose their place of study from over 38 participating universities and colleges.


The main purpose of the Darmasiswa program is to arouse and foster interest in the Indonesian language and culture among citizens of friendly countries, and to reciprocate scholarship programs provided by other countries for Indonesian citizens and to forge closer cultural links with these nations.


The DARMASISWA program is essentially a "non-degree" program of one year or less. The participants are prohibited from engaging in any political and/or business activities which may result in destabilizing governmental programs or lead to personal profit/gain.


Darmasiswa RI Program offered with 3 schemes, i.e:





  • Darmasiswa RI Regular Program - 1 year

  • Darmasiswa RI Plus Program - 1 year

  • Darmasiswa RI Short Course Program - 6 months




A. DARMASISWA RI REGULAR PROGRAM


1. Rights and Obligations of Participants





  1. Free of tuition fee

  2. Willing to help the universities/colleges in academic activitiesfor approx. 5 (five) hours per week.

  3. The participants may seek their universities assistance (from their own university) in finding a accommodation to rent.

  4. The participants will be fetched at the airport upon arrival.



2. Annual Schedule of Darmasiswa RI Regular Program





  1. Application deadline: 31st of March.

  2. Selection of documents: 15th of April.

  3. Orientation and Bahasa Indonesia course: 4th week of August.

  4. Academic program: August/September to July.

B. DARMASISWA RI PLUS PROGRAM


Students of DARMASISWA RI Plus program who are invited to study in university/college, are required to teach their native language (English, French, German, Japanese and Chinese) at an Indonesian Education Institute.


1. Right and Obligation of Participants





  1. Free of tuition fee.

  2. Willing to be placed any where in Indonesia in order to/ and to teach foreign language for 10 (ten) hours per week.

  3. The participants may seek their school's assistancc in finding accommodation.

  4. The participants will be fetched at the airport on their arrival.
