Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) - Graduate (South Korea)

 The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), funded by the Korean government, provides international students with opportunities to pursue graduate degrees in South Korea. This fully funded scholarship covers tuition fees, monthly allowances, airfare, medical insurance, and Korean language training. For the 2026 Graduate program, while the Embassy Track application period typically ends in late February, many University Track deadlines extend until late March 2026. COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP PLAN (CSFP)

The Malaysian Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan are awarded by the Malaysian Government to the nominated students from the Commonwealth countries to study at the post-graduate level in Malaysia. This is a Government to Government scheme without any bond imposed by Malaysia. The awards for Mastersdegree are between 12 to 24 months depending on the courses. Awards for pursuing PhD degree are for 3 years. The Awards are only applicable for candidates pursuing full-time degree programme in Malaysia.

To be eligible for COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP PLAN (CSFP), applicants must fit the following criteria:-
  1. Not be more than 45 years of age during application.
  2. Obtained a minimum of Second Class Upper (Honours) or a CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at Bachelor Degree Level for Masters Degree applicants and for PhD candidates must possess CGPA 3.5/4.0 or very good result at Masters degree level in a similar field of intended PhD study. In addition, for post-doctoral programme, the selection will be evaluated based on the number of books produced, refereed/non refereed journals, portfolio and patent copyright. The Post-Doctoral candidate must have excellent reputation in research and possesses knowledge related to the research to be carried out.
  3. Took one of the following English Language Proficiency Test not more than two years before the date of application. The list of tests and minimum scores required:
    1. IELTS Academic Test with a score of at least 6.5; or
    2. TOEFL paper-based test with a score of at least 580 or computer-based test with a score of at least 230 or internet-based test with a score at least 92.
  4. In excellent health condition and certified by a Certified Doctor/Medical Professional. The cost of medical examination is to be borne by the applicants
  5. Wrote a proposal that is relevant to field of studies.
  6. Has applied for and gained admission to postgraduate and post-doctoral studies in Malaysia (conditional letters of offer will be accepted at the time of application or has a confirmation of acceptance or affiliation with the universities in Malaysia).
Each scholarship consists of:-
  1. Air tickets from recipient’s capital city to Malaysia
  2. An approved tuition fees
  3. Monthly maintenance allowance

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS)

Established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong in 2009, the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) aims at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong's institutions.


 Eligibility


Candidates who are seeking admission as new full time PhD students in the following eight institutions, irrespective of their country of origin, prior work experience and ethnic background, should be eligible to apply.




  • City University of Hong Kong

  • Lingnan University

  • The Chinese University of Hong Kong

More than 200 PhD Fellowships will be awarded in the 2014/15 academic year*. For awardees who need more than three years to complete their PhD studies, additional support may be provided by the chosen institutions. International Scholarships Ministry of Education Malaysia

THE MALAYSIAN TECHNICAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME (MTCP)

The MTCP Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies provides opportunities for students to pursue advanced academic study in Malaysia. This scholarship is a Government-to-Government basis, without any bond imposed by Malaysia. Scholarships are intended for promising candidates who may be expected to make a significant contribution to their own countries on their return from Malaysia. The duration of the award is 36 months for PhD and between 12 to 24 months for Masters Programme.

ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA

GENERAL CONDITION OF AWARD

  1. Scholarship holder must undertake full-time studies for postgraduate studies at a campus of Malaysian Universities.It is the responsibility of the scholarship holders to confirm admission to the university.

  2. Scholarship holders must not change their programme during tenure of the scholarship except with written permission from their university and the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.

  3. Scholarship holders must follow the approved programmes and abide by the university’s rules, regulations and codes of conduct.

  4. Any suspension from the university will result in immediate suspension of award. Monthly allowances are not payable during suspension, including suspension due to illness.

  5. It is the responsibility of successful candidates to apply for and meet the requirements for the issuing of an appropriate entry visa including medical examination. The offer of the scholarship does not guarantee the granting of a visa.

  6. Scholarship holders must maintain satisfactory progress and good standing as stipulated by their host university and degree programme, or the scholarship will be withdrawn.

  7. The scholarships are tenable in Malaysian universities and research must be carried out in Malaysia.

  8. Scholarship holders are not allowed to take any paid employment during their tenure unless with written approval from the host university.

Scholarships to Study in Hongkong

Scholarships, fellowships and awards, which are donated by private organizations, professional bodies, firms and individuals, are bestowed upon the selected recipients including new students on the basis of academic merits and other criteria stipulated by the donors. Most of the scholarships are for full-time students undertaking UGC-funded / publicly-funded courses. In 2012-2013 academic year, around 1,000 individual scholarships and prizes will be awarded through the University to students in various disciplines of study, with the total combined value amounting to approximately HK$27 million.

Students will be awarded scholarships through the following three means:

1. By open application – the main round of application for University Scholarships is open in late August to September each year; while individual scholarships are open for application whenever requested by the donors. Internal selection will then be made on the basis of academic merit, leadership and other personal qualities, financial need and services to the community. Internal and /or external selection interviews may be needed.

2. By nominations from Faculties / Schools / Departments and other relevant offices, subject to the final selection / approval by the donating parties.

Scholarships for Studying in Indonesia : DARMASISWA RI PROGRAM

DARMASISWA is a scholarship program extended by the government of the Republic of Indonesia to foreign students from countries with which Indonesia has friendly relations. The program offered are Indonesian language, arts, music and crafts. Participants can choose their place of study from over 38 participating universities and colleges.


The main purpose of the Darmasiswa program is to arouse and foster interest in the Indonesian language and culture among citizens of friendly countries, and to reciprocate scholarship programs provided by other countries for Indonesian citizens and to forge closer cultural links with these nations.


The DARMASISWA program is essentially a "non-degree" program of one year or less. The participants are prohibited from engaging in any political and/or business activities which may result in destabilizing governmental programs or lead to personal profit/gain.

Indonesian Government Scholarships for International Students

1.      Background


 


The 10th Conference of Heads of States of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries commenced in Bandung from 1st – 6th September 1992 concluded, among others, the idea of scholarships provided by the Ministry of Education and Culture. In 1993 the Government of the Republik of Indonesia started offering postgraduate (master degree) scholarship to students from the NAM member countries.


 


Since 2002, after the cold war ended, the program had beed offered not only to the NAM member countries, but also to the developing countries such as Thailand, Fiji, South Korea, Suriname, Guyana, Turkey, Vietnam, and Vanuatu. In fact, this program has attracted more applicants, and by 2012, 597 students from 49 countries had been awarded this scholarship.


 


Due to the international political escalation, the use of the term “NAM” was considered irrelevant. Therefore, the program had been changed to Beasiswa Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) or Developing Countries Partnership program on Scholarship.


 


2.      Objectives


 


The objectives of the scholarship are:


a.    Promoting deeper cultural understanding among developing countries;


b.    Strengthening the relationship and mutual cooperation among the participating countries;


c.    Contributing to the development of human resource quality.

5.      Scholarship Coverage


 


The KNB scholarship will be covering :


a.     Settlement Allowance of Rp. 1.000.000,- will be given upon arrival in Indonesia;


b.     While taking the Indonesian language course and preparatory programs, a student will receive Rp. 1.650.000,- per month (living allowance only);


c.     During their Master Program, the students will receive monthly allowances as follows:


(1)  Living allowance              = Rp. 1.650.000


(2)  Research allowance         = Rp.    400.000


(3)  Books allowance              = Rp.    350.000


d.    The scholarship will be provided for a maximum of 36 months period of study (in case of early program completion, the scholarship will be stopped soon after the student set off for their home country);


e.     A health insurance with a maximum of Rp. 200.000 monthly premi (in case of the cost of medical services exceeded to those covered by the health insurance, the difference should be borne by the student);


f.      A round-trip international airfare (economy class) from the international airport of the student’s home countries to Indonesia, including local transportation to the host university;


Note: Other expenses beside those mentioned above will be borne by the students.


 


6.      Requirements


 


a.     Maximum age is 35 year old;


b.     Possess a bachelor degree;


c.     Not a Master Degree Holder;


d.     Have a TOEFL score of 500 or equivalent;


e.     Complete the on-line application form


f.      He/she must be recommended by the Indonesian Embassy in the respective country;


g.     He/she must be in a good health proved by an official medical statement from authorized medical practitioner;


h.     Prior to the departure to Indonesia, the successful candidates will be required to sign a statement letter provided by the KNB Scholarship management.


 


7.      Application Procedure


 


a.     Required Documents:


(1)  Recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy in the respective country;


(2)  Nomination letter from the respective government official;


(3)  2 Academic Recommendation letters;


(4)  Scanned passport (personal data page only) or birth certificate;


(5)  Scanned bachelor certificate and academic transcripts (in English);


(6)  Scanned TOEFL score certificate obtained within the last 2 years;


(7)  Scanned Medical Statement.


b.     Procedures:


(1)  Download Invitation letter from the KNB Scholarship website www.knb.dikti.go.id;


(2)  Bring the Invitation letter, Passport of Birth Certificate, Academic Certificate and Academic Transcripts to the Indonesian to acquire the recommendation letter;


(3)  Complete the online application process www.knb.ditkti.go.id;


(4)  The selection process will be conducted based on online application data;


(5)  The selection results will be published in the KNB Scholarship Website www.knb.dikti.go.id and through the Indonesian Embassy publication channel.


 


8.      Schedule


a.     The application process must be completed no later than end of April;


b.     Selection will be conducted on 1st week of May;


c.     The selection result will be announced on 1st week of June;


d.     The students should have arrived in Jakarta by the end of August;


e.     Orientation will be organized in September;


f.      The Indonesian language course will be starting in early September.


 


9.      Arrival in Indonesia


 


a.     Visa Arrangement


 


(1)    Short-Visit Visa (VITAS)


Prior to the departure to Indonesia, the successful candidates will be using a Short-Visit Visa (VITAS) that can be obtained from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the candidate’s home country. Soon after the arrival in Indonesia, the visa should be conversed to the Limited Staying Permit (ITAS) for 1 (one) year through a Local Immigration Office where the candidate will study.


 


Please be advised that the successful candidates must report to the Local Immigration Office within 7 days upon the time of arrival to get the Stay-Permit (ITAS).


 


(2)    Social-Visit Visa (VKSB)


Social Visit Visa (VKSB) can also be used to entering Indonesia. It can be obtained from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia where the student lives. Soon after the arrival in Indonesia, the visa should be conversed to get Limited Staying Permit (ITAS) for 1 (one) year


 


While studying in Indonesia, students or KNB scholarship holders may go overseas as long as they obtain an Exit Re-Entry Permit (ERP) or Exit Permit Only (EPO) stamped on their passport by the Local Immigration Office.


 


Please be advised that the successful candidates are prohibited to use the Tourist Visa to study in Indonesia, since it will cause a problem while processing the Stay-Permit.


 


(3)    The student is expected to have a valid passport for a minimum 2 (two) years.


 


b.     Departure to Indonesia


 


(1)  The successful candidates are expected to arrive in Indonesia by the end of August;


(2)  As soon as the visa is obtained and the date of departure is confirmed, the Directorate General of Higher Education will handle the travel arrangements for the successful candidates;


(3)  Ministry of Education and culture will deliver the necessary arrangements to meet all the arriving students at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport;


(4)  Students are strongly advised not to be accompanied by any family member since the KNB Scholarship monthly stipend is basically estimated for only one person for a proper living in Indonesia.



10.   Returning Home


 


a.     Returning home after finishing study


Student who has accomplished their study should contact the host university no more than 30 days prior to their departure so as to allow time for preparing necessary documents and travel arrangement. The day of departure should not exceed either the period of their scholarship or one month after yudisium (not the graduation day)


 


b.     Excess Baggage


The Indonesian government does not provide additional money for excess baggage and book transportation.


 


c.     Temporary return


When the student wishes to leave Indonesia temporarily for a personal reason, he/she must:


(1)  Have a letter of recommendation from the host university;


(2)  Have a round-trip international ticket;


(3)  Cover the exit re-entry permit cost.


During the leave, he/she will not receive any monthly allowance.


 


d.     Drop-out / Aborting study


In case students return home due to personal reasons or because they cannot complete their study (e.g. inability to complete the study or violating the Indonesian government or university regulation), the following points apply:


(1)  Students should inform the Director of Graduate Program of the host university;


(2)  Students must inform their government official/representative in written to explain the nature of the problems that have forced them to quit from the study;


(3)  Students must bear the cost of the International airfares.


 


11.  Other Matters


 


a.     Accommodation


The government of the Republic of Indonesia will not provide any lodging or board. However, the host university will assist them in finding a suitable boarding house/ accommodation.


 


b.     Holiday / Study Leave


Any other costs for personal reasons or vacations will be the responsibility of the student’s responsibility.


 


c.     Dressing Decency


Students are advised to wear decent/appropriate clothes when they visit government offices and public places, and attend classes in campus.
