NZAID's- New Zealand

Education is of critical importance within NZAID's overarching policy framework and the Agency's aim of achieving a safe and just world free of poverty. Education has historically accounted for approximately one third of New Zealand's total annual bilateral Official Development Assistance (ODA). NZAID supports basic, post-basic and tertiary education in our core bilateral partner countries and through selected regional programmes, with a particular emphasis on achieving gender equality at these levels of education by 2015. NZAID support includes the provision of scholarships for study in home country, regional and New Zealand institutions.

NZAID Scholarships are a valuable capacity-building tool to provide students with knowledge and skills with which to make a positive contribution to their country's development. Country and regional programmes may include and fund scholarships as a flexible aid mechanism to help meet the human resource development needs of the partner country and selected countries within NZAID's regional programmes.
