Stipend: The Studentships are funded at the standard University of Liverpool rates which includes full payment of fees and 3-year maintenance grant (in the region of £12,300 tax-free per annum).

Research theme
Building on research currently underway in the University of Liverpool Faculty of Social and Environmental Studies this work will apply newly developed techniques to examine the value and economic impact of cultural and artistic events. This is relevant because of Liverpool's role as European Capital of Culture in 2008. Such a designation presents an unparalleled research opportunity to analyse the potential socio-economic and regenerative effects upon the City and its hinterland.
This position would suit those from a social science background with a 2:1 grade or higher. A postgraduate qualification would be an advantage.

The successful applicant will be joint-supervised by Professor David Sapsford and Dr Alan Southern in the Management School.

Benchmarking Best Practice Business Continuity Management : A Cross Sectoral study

Research Theme
Using a combination of organizational learning and institutional perspectives, and exploiting significant industry contacts, the project will result in a model of Business Continuity Management (BCM) best
practice that can be applied across a range of business sectors such as food, retail and finance
This position would suit applicants with social science and/or organisational-managerial studies qualifications at 2:1 grade or higher. A postgraduate qualification would be an advantage.

Corporate Governance and Organizational Behaviour

Research theme
This project will investigate the practice of corporate governance and its relationship to matters of corporate strategy, structure and change. The research will focus on the UK context, with some possibilities for a regional focus.
This position would suit applicants with social science and/or organisational-managerial studies qualifications at 2:1 grade or higher. A postgraduate qualification would be an advantage as would a demonstrable interest in developing novel approaches to qualitative research.
