
is an autonomous graduate school instituted under the jurisdiction of the Council of the King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi . It was established in 1998 for the purpose of implementing the Postgraduate Education and Research in Science and Technology Development Project of the Commission on Higher Education (CHE), which aims to strength postgraduate education and research as a means of building a strong foundation for research and development in science and technology, and to help support Thailand's economic competitiveness. The School receives funding from the Thai government through the CHE - ADB Higher Education Development Project and the Energy Conservation Promotion Fund of the Ministry of Energy.

The School operates as a consortium involving

- King Mongkut's Institute of Technology North Bangkok,
- Chiang Mai University,
- Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology at Thammasart University,
- Prince of Songkhla University
as partners.

One of the aims of JGSEE is to produce high quality research work. To this end funds are made available to all students as thesis expense staring from the first semester that the students enroll for their thesis study. The maximum a mount of funding for each program is set below;
