Monbukagakusho Scholarship - Japan

Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship Students

(1)   The scholarship is provided for two years from September 2012 to August 2014.

(2)   The amount of the scholarship is 152,000 yen and additional monthly stipend of 3,000 yen (from November to March) may be provided to those undertaking study or research at Nagaoka University of Technology (as of 2011). Please note that the scholarship will be suspended in the event that a grantee takes a leave of absence from the university, fails to attend for a considerable period.

(3)  Travel expenses

1) Airfare to Japan: An airline ticket (economy class) from the international airport nearest to the grantee’s residence in a home country to the designated international airport in Japan is provided.[wp_campaign_1]

2) Return Airfare: When a grantee returns to a home country by a specific date after the completion of the course within the scholarship period, an airline ticket (economy class) from New Tokyo International Airport to the international airport nearest to the grantee’s residence in a home country will be provided on the basis of a request from the grantee.

Note: i) Grantees are responsible for transportation expenses within Japan (between New Tokyo International Airport and Nagaoka University of Technology), on both arrival and return.

ii) Grantees are responsible for travel insurance.

(4)  Grantees are not required to pay for admission or tuition fees.  The screening fee will be refunded if  accepted as a Japanese Government Scholarship student.

(5)   A grantee will be deprived of the scholarship in any of the following cases:

1)  If false statements or concealment of the truth have been made on the application materials; or

2) If a grantee breaks the agreement with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho) of the Japanese Government; or

3) If a grantee has been subjected to disciplinary action, or if a grantee can not be expected to complete the course.

10 Additional Notes

(1) Successful candidates will be informed of the details of admission procedures later.

(2) Successful candidates may choose to start their study from either April 2012 or September 2012 (However, Japanese Government Scholarship students will start the term from early September 2012).

(3) It is recommended that you learn the Japanese customs, lifestyle, climate, and university system before coming to Japan.
