Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP)

Eligible candidates: prospective students from 57 countries for Master’s degree courses that have particular relevance to the needs in developing countries

The Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) offers fellowships to professionals who are citizens of a developing country and who wish to pursue a Master’s degree at Utrecht University. NUFFIC administers the programme on behalf of the Dutch Government. NFP fellowships are only available for a selection of Master's degree courses. Please check the web site mentioned below for a current overview of approved programmes.

Number of scholarships and duration
NFP fellowships are distributed among programmes at all Dutch universities. Approximately 6 fellowships each year are awarded to students applying to Utrecht University. Fellowships are awarded for the duration of the programme. This is normally between 11 and 24 months. NFP fellowships provide students with sufficient funds to cover their essential expenses (i.e. tuition fee, accommodation, living expenses and travel). Students who are awarded a fellowship must undertake to return to their country of origin as soon as the course is finished.

Application procedure
Please visit www.nuffic.nl/nfp for a detailed explanation of the application procedure and selection criteria. These are the steps:

1. Apply for the Master’s programme of your choice at Utrecht University. If you are admitted, you can
2. Obtain an NFP application form from the Dutch Embassy or consulate in your home country or region or from www.nuffic.nl/nfp.
3. Submit your NFP application form, along with the necessary documents, to the Dutch embassy or consulate in your country.
4. NUFFIC selects the candidates, who are notified through the Dutch embassy or consulate.

The deadline for applying to Utrecht University is December 1.
The deadline for submission of the NFP Fellowship application form is March 1.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR POST-GRADUATE STUDIES IN MALAYSIA

The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) was launched in 1980 to provide technical assistance to other developing countries. The Programme consolidated various forms of technical cooperation in areas where Malaysia has the experience and expertise. Malaysia’s assistance under the MTCP is essentially in the form of training conducted either at Malaysian universities or training institutions. Other forms of assistance include study visits, the services of experts, and the provision of supplies and equipment for socioeconomic projects.

The MTCP Scholarship Award provides opportunities for students to pursue advanced academic study in Malaysia. This scholarship is a Government-to Government scheme without any bond imposed by Malaysia. Scholarships are intended for promising men and women who may be expected to make a significant contribution to their own countries on their return from study abroad.

The Malaysian Government offers up to 40 MTCP Scholarships each year. The scholarship are available for post-graduate studies at Masters and Ph.D level tenable at any Malaysian public university, and are available to citizens of the MTCP participating countries. The duration of the award is 36 to 42 months for Ph.D and between 12 to 24 months for Masters programme.

ELIGIBILTY

The scholarships are open equally to men and women up to 45 years of age at the time of application.
Candidates should be citizens of the MTCP participating countries.
They should, at the time of the application hold a degree or equivalent qualification with at least upper second class honours, (or CGPA 3.0/4.0) for Master’s programme; and hold a Master’s degree with good grades for Ph.D programme.
The candidates must demonstrate verbal, reading and writing proficiency in the English language through one of the following:-

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Test administered by the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS)

Proven of English Language proficiency is desirable.
Applicants must be in good health, both physically and mentally.

VALUE OF AWARDS
Each scholarship consists of:

a return tickets from recipient’s capital city to Malaysia;
approved tuition fees;
a maintenance allowance at the rate of RM1000.00 per month;
a yearly grant for books and internal travel;
thesis allowance, installation and termination grant; and

No marriage/ family allowance for accompanying spouse or children.

APPLICATION TO THE UNIVERSITY
Application for admission into the university is the responsibility of the candidate and the proof of admission to the university is not a pre-requisite of the award. The Selection Committee for MTCP Scholarship will only consider qualified applicants based on their academics and professional performance. Since most of the universities in Malaysia commence their academic year in May/June, interested applicants are encouraged to apply to the university earlier, even before the results of MTCP Scholarship being announced. The scholarship does not automatically grant a placement in the university. Admission to any programme is by way of application to the university.

Swedish Institute scholarships

Guest Scholarship Program
For master's level studies the Guest Scholarship program is only open to
applicants from ODA countries. For PhD, post-doctoral level and students
of Swedish language and literature the Guest Scholarship Program is open
for applicants from all countries with the exception of the Nordic
countries (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway). Students from
Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine should
apply to the Visby Programme.

Swedish-Turkish Program
For citizens of Turkey pursuing master's level or advanced level studies
in Sweden in the field of social sciences and law; such as International
and European Relations, European Affairs, European Law or Human Rights
Law.

Visby Programme
For academic institutions and individuals from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania
and Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia. Grants are awarded for projects
and for individual scholarships.

Pakistan Overseas Scholarship Scheme
This scholarship program is exclusively open to Pakistani nationals aiming
to pursue master's level and PhD studies in Sweden.

Master in Sweden for East Europe
The program is open to applicants from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan,
Belarus, Bosnia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova,
Montenegro, Serbia, Tajikistan and Ukraine.
